Regine Romain is a multilingual Haitian-American artist, educator, racial justice strategist, and public speaker affiliated with George Mason University's Department of Cultural Studies within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. With over 25 years of experience teaching and supporting intergenerational communities, she utilizes photography, film, and podcasting as mixed-media educational tools to address issues of race, representation, and culture through participatory learning practices.
Her educational background includes a BA from Bowie State University and an MA from Goldsmiths, University of London, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Cultural Studies. Romain has developed transformative curricula, workshops, salons, performances, forums, exhibits, and tours through her extensive global network.

Romain's research focuses on Haitian/Caribbean arts and media, visual anthropology, immigrant/third culture studies, African diaspora spirituality/religions, memory/family archives, Black diaspora representation, and multimedia production. Her work bridges storytelling as cultural recovery while creating spaces to deepen critical and curative consciousness around historic wounds and cultural identity.
Her publications demonstrate consistent engagement with Haitian cultural preservation, African diaspora representation, and visual anthropology, with a particular emphasis on connecting Haiti with its West African roots. Romain's work shows increasing focus on multimedia approaches to cultural recovery and education.
She has received notable recognition including the 2022 Brooklyn Public Library Heritage Ambassador designation and an NYSCA filmmaking grant.
