Regina Lüttge is an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering department at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), leading the Microsystems section and holding the Chair of Neuro-Nanoscale Engineering. She is affiliated with EAISI Health and ICMS, and serves as Chief Scientific Officer at MyLife Technologies BV since 2012.
- PhD in Microsystems Technologies (Imperial College London, 2003)
- MSc in Applied Sciences (Germany)
Her research focuses on microsystems for medicine and biology, integrating bio-inspired functionality through nanoscale material control and micro-nanofabrication. Key projects combine microfluidics with tissue engineering to create in vitro brain models for disease-state analysis and therapeutic development.
The 15 most recent publications highlight trends in brain-on-chip systems, neuronal network engineering, and transdermal drug delivery. These works explore microenvironment manipulation, nanopore arrays, and hydrogel-based devices, contributing to neuroscience, biomedical microdevices, and pharmaceutical innovation.
Scientific awards include:
- ERC Starting Grant (2011): Chatting with Neurons
- ERC Proof of Concept Grant (2015): Sieving neuronal network communication
As a supervisor, Lüttge has guided 48 research projects, though specific student names are not disclosed. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for health, innovation, and global partnerships, supported by collaborations across Europe.
