Regina Finan, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Counseling in the Department of Counseling, Higher Education, and Speech-Language Pathology at the University of West Georgia. She holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University and a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Georgia.

Her research focuses on multiculturalism, social justice, counselor training methodologies, multiracial identity dynamics, and the experiences of graduate student mothers. Dr. Finan actively serves in leadership roles within professional organizations, including Vice President of the Multiethnic, Multiracial, and Transracial Adoptee Concerns Group in the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD). She previously chaired AMCD’s Multiethnic and Multiracial Concerns Task Force and co-chaired the Southeast Association for Counselor Education and Supervision’s Human Rights and Social Justice Interest Network.
Dr. Finan teaches a wide range of courses, including Basic Counseling Skills, Principles of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and Career Theory and Intervention. She also oversees practicum and internship placements, dissertation supervision, and ethics-oriented coursework.
Outside academia, she describes herself as a 'theoretical gardener' envisioning counseling frameworks and an occasional 'Top Chef' enthusiast.
