Regina Axelrod is a Senior Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Adelphi University's College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a PhD from the Graduate Center, City University of New York (1978), and has maintained a strong scholarly presence in environmental and energy policy, particularly in transatlantic and global contexts.

Her research interests focus on environmental politics, international environmental governance, global energy and resource politics, nuclear energy policy, and the political dynamics of the European Union and Central and Eastern Europe, especially the Czech Republic. She has extensively analyzed the interplay between energy policy and democratic development, with a critical stance on nuclear energy expansion.
Her recent publications and presentations reveal a consistent focus on global environmental governance, innovative teaching methods, nuclear energy ethics, and transnational environmental policy. She has contributed to multiple editions of the influential textbook The Global Environment: Institutions, Law and Policy, and continues to shape discourse through conference leadership and discussion roles.

Dr. Axelrod has secured significant research funding from the National Science Foundation, Ford Foundation, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, National Research Council, Soros Foundation, and the Center for European Studies at NYU. She has advised and collaborated with scholars such as Stacy VanDeveer and David Downie, and has been an active mentor in the academic community. She has also served as past president of the New York Political Science Association and is an academic associate of the Atlantic Council.
She is actively involved in academic networks, regularly chairing and discussing panels at the International Studies Association and other forums. Her international engagements include invited lectures at Charles University and the University of Economics in Prague, as well as participation in Wilton Park conferences across Europe.
