Reed Watson is Director of the Hayek Center for the Business of Prosperity and Professor of Practice in Economics at Clemson University, where he coordinates the business professionalism curriculum. His research examines how market competition fosters human flourishing, with focus areas including healthcare markets, labor force participation, and environmental conservation.
Previously Executive Director of the Property and Environment Research Center (PERC), his scholarship explores water rights, endangered species policy, and entrepreneurial conservation. Publications include 'Tapping Water Markets' and analyses of environmental federalism and public wildlife management. His writings have appeared in Wall Street Journal and New York Times.
He holds a J.D. and M.A. in Environmental Economics from Duke University and a B.S. in Economics from Clemson. Professional background includes diverse private sector experience prior to academic career. Teaches courses on business ethics, microeconomics, and environmental law.
