Dr Rebecca Venchiarutti is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Sydney School of Public Health and a Research Fellow in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse. She holds a PhD in cancer epidemiology from the University of Sydney (2021), alongside a BSc and MNutrDiet. Her research focuses on improving cancer care access and outcomes, particularly for head and neck cancer patients in rural and remote areas, and addressing healthcare disparities. She leads the Regional and Rural Research Stream in Head and Neck Surgery and contributes to the PC4 Survivorship Engine Room.
Education: BSc (University of Sydney), MNutrDiet (University of Sydney), PhD (Cancer Epidemiology, University of Sydney).
Research interests include cancer health services evaluation, epidemiology, and variations in care, with a focus on head and neck cancers, rural health, and oral/maxillofacial surgery. Her work emphasizes patient experiences post-surgery, diagnostic pathways, and healthcare utilization.
Publications highlight her contributions to improving jaw reconstruction outcomes, reducing diagnostic delays, and enhancing survivorship care models in underserved regions. She has received the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia Survivorship Research Fellowship (2022–2023).
Teaching includes roles at the University of Sydney, supervising Master’s and PhD students in Public Health and Cancer Research. Professional memberships span epidemiology, health services research, and head and neck oncology societies, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach.
