Rebecca Sandberg serves as Assistant Director of the Division of Humanities, Honors, & Education, Program Manager for the First-Year Experience, and Faculty Fellow in the George Fox University Honors Program. She joined George Fox University in 2022, initially as an assistant professor of English, before transitioning to her current administrative and honors-focused roles.
Her academic credentials include:
- MFA in Writing from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)
- Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from Wheaton College
Rebecca's scholarly work centers on liberal arts and culture, the Great Books tradition, writing and rhetoric pedagogy (with emphasis on fiction), and organizational leadership intersecting with human development. Her approach integrates humanities education with practical applications for personal and professional growth, emphasizing critical engagement with foundational texts and creative expression.
Professionally, she coauthored the book Now I See, An Invitation to Life to the Full (2019) and brings extensive nonprofit leadership experience, having founded and directed Re:new Project (2009-2014)—an organization employing refugee women—and served as a designer for Amani Ya Juu in Nairobi, Kenya (2002-2007). She holds multiple life coaching certifications specializing in adult development theory, transformative presence, and embodied transformation.
Residing in Newberg, Oregon, with her husband Roger, she maintains active personal interests in dramatic poetry readings, community dining, travel, and studio painting.
