Rebecca Prescott is an Assistant Professor at Northumbria University's Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Strategy. She holds a PhD in Business and Management Studies from Newcastle University (2018), an MA in Arts, Business and Creativity (2013), and a BA in Theatre Studies (2008). Her research explores the intersection of creativity, entrepreneurship, and urban development, with a focus on how artistic practice intersects with policy and spatial transformation.
Key projects include the UKSPF-funded Flourish Gateshead, which investigates sustainable creative ecosystems, and Mapping Gateshead, an ESRC-funded study analyzing creative activity in the region. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to education and urban sustainability.
Rebecca teaches modules combining entrepreneurship theory with practical problem-solving, equipping students with career-ready skills. She collaborates extensively with local councils, universities, and organizations like the National Trust to drive urban revitalization projects such as the Tyne Derwent Way initiative.
Her research emphasizes creative industries' role in urban regeneration, policy frameworks for artist-led spaces, and fostering inclusive innovation ecosystems.
