Rebecca Miller

Rebecca Miller is a Professor of Music at Hampshire College, specializing in ethnomusicology, traditional music documentation, and music journalism. Her work bridges academic research with public engagement through radio documentaries, film productions, and community-based projects.

Her research focuses on cultural identity in music practices, with fieldwork in the Eastern Caribbean and Ireland. Her publications include a revised edition of her seminal book on Carriacou string bands (2024) and an upcoming analysis of Irish showbands (2025).

Recent publications explore Caribbean identity performance and Irish cultural memory, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach combining anthropology, musicology, and media studies.
