Rebecca Kurtz-Garcia is an Assistant Professor at Smith College with joint appointments in the Mathematics and Statistics & Data Sciences departments. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics from the University of California Riverside and an M.S. in Statistics from Ball State University.

Her research focuses on dependent data, including time series analysis, simulation, and machine learning. She specializes in long-run variance estimation for multivariate datasets in economic and environmental contexts.
Recent collaborative projects include statistical methods for MCMC simulations and fiscal policy analysis. She has published work on Candida albicans genetics and solar irradiance modeling.
