Rebecca Kreitzer is an Associate Professor of Public Policy and Adjunct Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research focuses on American politics, particularly the intersection of gender, political representation, and public policy in the U.S. states. She examines policy processes such as abortion policy formation, contraception access disparities, and the influence of political institutions on legislative outcomes. Dr. Kreitzer employs a multidisciplinary approach to analyze how policymakers strategically shape laws while navigating public opinion and institutional constraints.
Education: B.A. in Political Science and Chinese from Macalester College; M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Iowa.
Research Interests: Her work bridges political behavior and institutions, with a focus on morality policy debates, policy diffusion, and the role of gender in shaping policy outcomes. Current projects explore the criminalization of pregnancy and conservative women’s influence on gendered policies. She has published in journals like Public Opinion Quarterly and Political Research Quarterly.
