Rebecca Jackson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Climate Sciences at Tufts University, affiliated with the School of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on polar oceanography and ocean-ice interactions, contributing to understanding climate dynamics in Arctic and Antarctic regions. She holds a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2016) and a BS from Yale University (2010).
Her teaching includes courses such as Physical Oceanography, The Cryosphere, and Intro to Oceanography, reflecting her expertise in marine and climate systems. She actively mentors students in independent research and thesis work through courses like Senior Thesis A/B and Special Topics: Independent Study.
Dr. Jackson’s research integrates fieldwork, modeling, and observational data to explore how ocean currents interact with ice sheets and glaciers. Her work informs climate change projections and ecosystem responses in polar regions. She maintains an active presence in fieldwork expeditions, as indicated by her website http://rebeccahjackson.com/.
