Rebecca Fribourg serves as a Lecturer and researcher at Centrale Nantes since September 2021, affiliated with the CRENAU team of the Ambiances Architectures Urbanités (AAU) laboratory.
Her educational background includes:
- PhD in Computer Science from the University of Rennes 1 (Inria/Irisa laboratories), supervised by Anatole Lécuyer, Ferran Argelaguet, and Ludovic Hoyet
- Post-Doctoral research at Trinity College Dublin
Her research centers on virtual reality embodiment, specifically investigating factors influencing users' perception of virtual avatars and sense of presence in immersive environments. This work bridges human-computer interaction, cognitive science, and virtual reality system design.
She received the Séphora Berrebi Women in Advanced Mathematics & Computer Science Award in 2021 for her doctoral contributions to encouraging women in STEM research.
Dr. Fribourg continues her research within the AAU laboratory, focusing on enhancing avatar embodiment mechanisms and user experience in virtual environments through interdisciplinary approaches.
