Rebecca Burditt is an Associate Professor of Media and Society at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, joining the faculty in 2014. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester and a B.A. from Williams College. Her research focuses on intersections of media, advertising, and post-World War II/Cold War visual culture, with a particular emphasis on material culture and cultural critique. Burditt teaches courses such as 'Introduction to Media and Society,' 'Cultures of Advertising,' and 'Global Musicals.'
Her scholarly work spans film studies, media theory, and cultural history, with publications in journals like Journal of Cinema and Media Studies and The Journal of American Culture. She has contributed chapters to edited volumes on health media, women's magazines, and Cold War cinema. Professional affiliations include the Society for Cinema and Media Studies.
