Dr. Rebecca Breen serves as Coordinator of Doctoral Programmes within the Research & Graduate School at Mary Immaculate College (MIC). Previously, she held a permanent lectureship in the University of Essex's School of Philosophy & Art History and served as Associate Director of Essex's Centre for Curatorial Studies. She has also taught at the University of Cambridge and University of Limerick.
Her research focuses on intersections between conceptualist art practices by women artists and testimonial narrative literature from 20th-century Latin America. This work was supported by a UK Arts and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Award and a University of Cambridge Gibson Spanish Scholarship.
Educational background includes a BA in Applied Languages from University of Limerick, MPhil in European Languages & Literature, and PhD in Contemporary Women Artists from Latin America & Testimonio from the University of Cambridge.
Committed to advancing postgraduate research at MIC, her academic career demonstrates strong interdisciplinary engagement with art history, cultural studies, and Latin American literature.
