The University of Manchesterمعرفی
Rebecca Bowler is an Ernest Rutherford Fellow at the University of Manchester's Department of Physics, specializing in the formation and evolution of galaxies during the early Universe. Her work focuses on robust identification of galaxies at cosmic dawn, cosmic reionization processes, and dust properties in high-redshift galaxies.
Education: PhD in Astronomy from the University of Edinburgh (2010-2014), MSci in Natural Sciences (Experimental/Theoretical Physics) from the University of Cambridge (2006-2010). Previous fellowships include roles at the University of Oxford (2015-2021) and the Institute for Astronomy, Edinburgh (2014-2015).
Research interests include using multi-wavelength datasets from telescopes such as ALMA, JWST, and MeerKAT. She investigates obscured star formation, active galactic nuclei interactions, and the role of massive galaxies in reionization.
Awards: Henry Moseley Medal (2021), Winton Award (2018), and others recognizing her contributions to extragalactic astronomy. Committed to STEM diversity initiatives, including leadership in the Oxford Women in Physics Society.
