Rebecca Adams is a Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of English at the University of Memphis. Her academic background includes a B.A. (1998) and M.A. (2000) from Brigham Young University, and a Ph.D. (2004) from Georgetown University. Her research focuses on applied linguistics, particularly the role of peer communication in second language learning. She has authored/co-authored influential books like Learning a Language with Peers: Elevating Classroom Voices (2023) and Peer Interaction and Second Language Learning (2013).
Dr. Adams’ work examines peer interactions in classroom settings, emphasizing how collaborative tasks promote second language knowledge construction. Her research interests include task complexity in peer communication, feedback mechanisms in learner interactions, and the integration of technology in language education. Her studies often explore modalities like computer-mediated communication (CMC) and their impact on language acquisition processes.
