Rebecca Abbott

Rebecca Abbott is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Colorado's Anschutz Medical Campus, affiliated with the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (2021) and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (2018) from Northwestern University, alongside a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University (2008). Her research focuses on biomechanics, musculoskeletal imaging, and rehabilitation sciences, particularly investigating cervical musculature in whiplash-associated disorders and muscle fat infiltration using MRI and CT technologies. Abbott has been awarded NIH postdoctoral fellowships and contributes to open-source imaging consortia like MuscleMap.
