Prof. Dr. Raymond Place serves as Lecturer in Food Microbiology and Safety at the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (HAFL) of Bern University of Applied Sciences since September 2022, bringing over 30 years of industry expertise to academia.
His professional journey includes executive leadership roles across major Swiss food enterprises:
- Vice President Global R&D at Ricola AG (2014-2021)
- Head of Coffee R&D at Delica AG (2009-2014)
- Development Leadership at Chocolat Frey AG (2003-2009)
Academic credentials feature an ETH Zurich PhD in Microbiology (2000-2003), Dipl. LM.-Ing. ETH degree (1995-2000), and Kalaidos MBA (2008-2010). His research specialization spans food safety protocols, microbial analysis in confectionery/coffee production, and sensory evaluation methodologies.
