Raymond Obayi is a Lecturer (Teaching & Research Focused) in Management Sciences at the Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. He holds a Master’s in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management from the University of Aberdeen and a doctorate in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the University of Sheffield. His research focuses on operations, project, and supply chain management, with a current emphasis on federated supply chain governance models, smart contracts in food quality management, and value stream optimization in the UK agri-food sector. Prior to academia, he worked in retail and investment banking operations with extensive project risk management experience.
His expertise aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly addressing food security and environmental sustainability through innovative supply chain solutions. Key research themes include transaction cost analysis, risk management frameworks, and lifecycle thinking in supply chains. Obayi collaborates on multi-disciplinary projects exploring digital twins for regulatory processes and sustainable business models to reduce food loss. He has co-authored influential works on circular supply chain frameworks and neo-institutional perspectives in construction supply chains.
Recent publications highlight advancements in pragmatic interoperability for agri-food systems, digital twin applications in food safety inspections, and lifecycle-based supply chain sustainability assessments. His work bridges theoretical concepts with practical industry challenges, emphasizing technology integration and adaptive strategies for resilient supply networks.
