Raymond Hoogendoorn

Dr. Ir. Raymond Hoogendoorn serves as Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence for Logistics at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. He officially assumed this position during his inaugural lecture on September 21, 2023, held at the Floating Pavilion in RDM Rotterdam.

His research focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence to transform logistics operations toward greater sustainability and efficiency. Key interests include:

• Digitalization strategies for logistics sector transformation
• AI-driven optimization of physical goods flows
• CO2 emission reduction through operational efficiency improvements
• Practical implementation of sustainable logistics solutions

Hoogendoorn aims to bridge academic research with industry applications to maintain the Netherlands' leading international position in logistics while addressing environmental challenges. His work particularly emphasizes reducing vehicle movements and identifying effective digitalization measures for the sector.

As part of his role, he collaborates with the Center of Expertise HR Tech (CoE HRTech) and contributes to context-rich education at the university. His inaugural lecture featured a documentary outlining his multi-year research program and was attended by university leadership including Wijnand van den Brink from the Executive Board.
