Ray Cashman is a Professor in the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology at Indiana University Bloomington’s College of Arts & Sciences. His work focuses on Irish and Northern Irish folklore, oral traditions, and the politics of cultural memory.
Research Interests:
- Oral traditions and ethnography of communication
- Performance studies and vernacular religion
- Tradition, social memory, and place-making
- Fieldwork ethics and political implications of folklore
Publications: Explore themes like Irish border communities, folklore’s role in post-conflict societies, and material culture’s connection to memory.
