Ravi Ramamurti

Ravi Ramamurti is a Professor at Northeastern University’s College of Business Administration, specializing in International Business & Strategy. He currently serves as Deputy Dean of the Academy of International Business (AIB) Fellows and heads the Center for Emerging Markets (CEM), established in 2007. A globally recognized scholar, he has held visiting professorships at Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan, IMD Switzerland, and Wharton. His research focuses on strategy, innovation in emerging economies, and reverse innovation models, particularly in healthcare delivery.

Education: DBA in International Business (Harvard University), MBA (Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Gold Medalist), BSc Physics (St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University).

Research interests include business-government relations in developing nations, multinational enterprises from emerging markets, and global healthcare systems. He has authored eight books, including seminal works on reverse innovation. His 2018 book on healthcare delivery won multiple awards, and his article on reverse innovation earned the Best Article Award in Global Strategy Journal (2017).

Ramamurti advises governments and organizations worldwide, including the World Bank and UN agencies, and has consulted in over 20 countries. His leadership roles include Chair of the Academy of Management’s International Management Division (2007) and Secretary of AIB Fellows (2008–2011). He is a frequent media commentator on emerging markets strategy, appearing on Bloomberg and China Global TV.

CEM initiatives include India programs funded by the Sharma family and China-focused lecture series. His teaching excellence has earned him six ADL Professor of the Year awards.
