Ravi Howard is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Florida State University (FSU), within the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds an MFA from the University of Virginia and specializes in fiction, creative non-fiction, and African-American narratives. His work has been published in prominent outlets like The New York Times, Salon, and Massachusetts Review. He has also contributed to National Public Radio's All Things Considered and produced content for HBO, ESPN, and other networks, earning a Sports Emmy in 2004 for his work on HBO's Inside the NFL.
Howard’s research and creative interests focus on narrative forms that explore racial identity, cultural memory, and social dynamics. His novels, including Driving the King (2015) and Like Trees, Walking (2008, which won the Ernest J. Gaines Award), exemplify his expertise in blending historical and contemporary themes.
