Raul Rodríguez Ferrandiz

Raul Rodríguez Ferrandiz is a Full Professor in Semiotics of Mass Communication and Transmedia Production & Consumption at the University of Alicante, Spain. He holds a PhD in Spanish Studies and received the PhD Special Award in 1998.

His research focuses on:

• Semiotics of digital media
• Transmedia production and consumption
• Information disorder and post-truth dynamics
• Political communication
• Cultural industries

Recent publications have explored algorithmic governance (2022), transmedia narrative manipulation (2023), and cross-platform storytelling frameworks (2018-2020). His work bridges semiotic theory with contemporary digital communication challenges.

Former academic coordinator of the UA Master's Degree in Communication and Creative Industry (3 years) and deputy director of the Juan Gil-Albert Culture Institute's Department of Humanities and Science. He served as Coordinator and Director of the Spanish Association for Communication Research’s Discourse Studies Section (2012-2020) and remains a member of the Spanish Association of Semiotics (AES).
