Ratib Lekhal serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Culture at BI Norwegian Business School, with previous academic appointments at Hedmark University of Applied Sciences (2013-2015) and research positions at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (2012-2014).
Lekhal earned a Ph.D. (Dr. Philos.) from the University of Oslo in 2013, following completion of a Master's degree (Cand.Ped.) from the same institution in 2007. Their academic trajectory demonstrates consistent focus on child development and educational contexts.
Research interests center on early childhood education quality, language development in bilingual contexts, teacher-child interactions, and implementation of evidence-based practices in educational settings. Lekhal investigates how factors such as emotion socialization strategies, home literacy environments, childcare quality, and professional development interventions influence children's social, emotional, and cognitive development. Their work often examines these relationships through the lens of Norwegian educational contexts while addressing universal developmental principles.
Analysis of recent publications reveals a cohesive research program examining multiple dimensions of early childhood education quality. Lekhal's work spans language development in bilingual children, stress physiology in childcare settings, implementation of nutrition guidelines, and teacher professional development. A significant portion of their research investigates the Oslo Early Education Study, a major initiative examining interventions to improve classroom quality in Norwegian kindergartens.
As an active researcher, Lekhal frequently collaborates with colleagues from BI Norwegian Business School, University of Oslo, and other Norwegian institutions. Their publications appear in high-impact journals across educational psychology, child development, and early childhood education fields, demonstrating methodological expertise in both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
