Rastislav Metruk is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education, Trnava University in Trnava (since March 2025). Previously, he worked at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Žilina in Žilina (2013–2025) as both Assistant Professor (2013–2021) and Associate Professor (2021–2025).
- Ph.D. in Philology (English language) from University of Ostrava (2012–2016)
- PaedDr. in Teaching of English Language and Literature from University of Žilina (2012–2013)
- Mgr. in English Language and Literature Teaching from Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (2010–2012)
- Bc. in Teaching of English Language and Literature and Civics from University of Žilina (2007–2010)
His research focuses on Teaching English as a Foreign Language, with an emphasis on pronunciation instruction, development of communicative competence, and integration of ICT in language teaching. He has also explored modern trends in English language pedagogy and phonetics/phonology of English.
Metruk's publications include monographs and textbooks addressing pronunciation instruction, speaking skills, and language teaching methodologies. His habilitation thesis at Trnava University (2021) directly examined English pronunciation challenges in Slovak secondary schools.
