معرفی
Rasmus Petersen is a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Neuroscience at the University of Manchester. His research focuses on understanding how neural networks encode sensory information and drive action through neurophysiological experiments and computational modeling. Key areas include neural coding in somatosensory systems, whisker-related sensory processing, and adaptive mechanisms in the barrel cortex.
He contributes to the Christabel Pankhurst Institute and Digital Futures research beacons. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in advancing health and innovation. Petersen collaborates internationally and has published 56 research outputs, including studies on sensory adaptation, cortico-collicular circuits, and 3D animal pose reconstruction.
He leads the Sensory and motor systems project and participates in the Manchester Bioelectronics Network. Supervising 11 research works, his team employs multi-microelectrode arrays and computational tools to decode neural population activity in freely moving animals. Petersen's research bridges basic neuroscience with translational applications in neural coding and adaptive sensory systems.
