Rashna Madan

Rashna Madan is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She serves as Section Head for Thoracic and Gastrointestinal Pathology, Program Director for the Selective/Surgical Pathology Fellowship and Post Sophomore Fellowship in Pathology, and Assistant Director of the Biospecimen Repository Core Facility at the KU Cancer Center.

Her research focuses on diagnostic and molecular aspects of thoracic diseases (including lung cancer), gastrointestinal disorders (such as inflammatory bowel disease and GI malignancies), and cytopathology techniques for early cancer detection. This work bridges clinical diagnostics with translational research through biospecimen analysis.

Dr. Madan actively mentors pathology fellows through dual fellowship programs while managing biospecimen resources critical for cancer research. Her leadership in the Biospecimen Repository Core Facility enables high-impact translational studies through standardized tissue acquisition and annotation.

As Assistant Director of the Biospecimen Repository Core Facility, she oversees systematic collection, processing, and distribution of clinically annotated specimens that power multidisciplinary cancer research across the KU Cancer Center ecosystem.
