Dr. Rashid Maqbool is an Assistant Professor and Year Tutor at Northumbria University's Department of Mechanical and Construction Engineering, where he also serves as Faculty Coordinator for Project Management programmes. His research focuses on construction project management, sustainable built environments, and renewable energy projects, with particular emphasis on energy vulnerability and infrastructure planning.
Maqbool's research examines sustainable construction methodologies, public-private partnerships in infrastructure development, and technological innovations in project management. His current work investigates: BIM and lean construction integration; Socio-environmental dimensions of urban development; AI applications in construction management; Skill gap mitigation in construction industries; Energy vulnerability in built environments.
Before joining Northumbria, Maqbool held postdoctoral positions at Tsinghua University (China) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He earned his PhD in Engineering and Project Management from Beijing Jiaotong University in 2018, receiving multiple academic awards including the 'Outstanding International Student' distinction.
His publications appear in top journals including Journal of Cleaner Production, Sustainable Development, and Science of the Total Environment. Recent research explores pandemic impacts on construction productivity, digital solutions for agricultural information dissemination, and inclusive education practices.
