Raquel Rabionet Janssen

Raquel Rabionet Janssen is a Professor at the Universitat de Barcelona, affiliated with the Departament de Genètica, Microbiologia i Estadística and the Facultat de Biologia. She leads the Grup de Recerca en Genètica Molecular Humana. Her research focuses on genetic factors influencing ischemic stroke recovery, OCD risk, and intellectual disability. She has coordinated major projects such as the 2018-2020 GENIUS study on stroke outcomes, funded by Fundació La Marató de TV3, and a 2023-2026 MICINN project on 2D/3D brain and bone models.

Education: Licenciatura en Biologia (1996) and Doctorat en Biologia (2002) from Universitat de Barcelona. Research highlights include discovering PATJ gene variants linked to stroke outcomes and identifying LACC1 mutations in juvenile arthritis. She collaborates internationally, as seen in large consortia like the Brainstorm and IMSGC groups.

Her work combines clinical genetics, transcriptomics, and genomic studies to address complex diseases. Current projects emphasize translational research in rare genetic disorders and neurovascular pathophysiology.
