Raquel Aranda is a College Assistant Professor in Physical Education within the Department of Kinesiology at New Mexico State University. She holds a BA in Foreign Languages (Spanish) and an MS in Curriculum and Instruction with Physical Education emphasis from NMSU.
Her work focuses on promoting developmentally appropriate and student-centered physical education through innovative teaching approaches. She implements and researches the 'Activist Approach' to physical education, which prioritizes student voice, inclusive practices, and meaningful engagement.
Aranda collaborates closely with Dr. Kim Oliver on:
- Pre-service teacher development programs
- Professional development for K-12 educators
- Community-based physical education initiatives
- Dance pedagogy for marginalized youth
