Raphaëlle MONK

Raphaëlle MONK is a professor at Sorbonne Nouvelle University - Paris 3 within the Department of Cinema and Audiovisual under the UFR Arts & Media. She actively contributes to academic research and administrative functions, serving as Director of Doctoral School 267 - Arts & Media, overseeing Erasmus exchange programs with King's College London, and participating in various university governance committees including the Research Commission and the disciplinary committee for teacher-researchers.

• Her research explores intersections between film and gender studies, cinema and popular spectacular forms, and theoretical/historical analysis of film/television genres.
• She leads the VW Stiftung-funded European project AGE-C (2023-2027) examining age and gender in European cinema, alongside collaborations with Warwick, Udine, and Cluj-Napoca institutions.

Key publications include Cinema Genre (Wiley-Blackwell, 2008) and Remakes: French Films in Hollywood (CNRS editions, 2007). She has also co-edited special journal issues on cinematic quality (Mise au Point, 2022) and cross-European crime genres (Policiers et criminels, 2009). Her academic affiliations include IRCAV - Institute for Research on Cinema and Audiovisual (EA 185) and Afeccav research networks.
