Raphael Woll is a Lecturer at the Institute of Jazz and Folk Music within the Lucerne School of Music (part of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, HSLU). He specializes in Jazz Drums and Jazz Theory, offering non-degree teaching in these areas. Born in 1971, Woll graduated with distinction from the Jazzschule Luzern (now part of HSLU) in 1997, studying under Pierre Favre, Norbert Pfammatter, and Marc Halbheer.
As a versatile sideman, he collaborates across styles, including Big Bands (e.g., George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band, EBU Jazz Orchestra) and smaller ensembles (Gruntz Swiss Trio, Bugge Wesseltoft's NCoJ, Hip Noses). He has worked with artists like William White, Heidi Happy, and Bligg, and contributed to musicals (Ewigi Liebi, Die Schweizermacher) and theater productions (Theater Basel's Milk & Honey). His project Kubus earned him a 1999 grant from Lucerne City and Canton and a 2006 recognition award from Lucerne City.
His awards reflect his contributions to jazz and popular music performance, while his teaching and studio work highlight his interdisciplinary approach.
