Ranjan Ray is a Professor of Economics at Monash University's Department of Economics. He teaches courses on development economics (ECC 3670) and public finance (ECC 3810). His academic journey includes a PhD from the London School of Economics, an MA from Delhi School of Economics, and a BA from the University of Calcutta.
Research interests span multidimensional deprivation, poverty/inequality measurement, child welfare, tax policy, and intrahousehold resource allocation. His work combines econometric rigor with policy applications, addressing issues from child labor to environmental health impacts.
Ray's publications focus on development economics, welfare measurement, and policy evaluation, often using cross-country datasets to analyze poverty, health, and environmental challenges. Recent work emphasizes multidimensional approaches to well-being.
