Ranjan Muthukrishnan

Dr. Ranjan Muthukrishnan serves as Research Assistant Professor at Boston University, specializing in community ecology, invasive species dynamics, and ecosystem resilience within the Ecology, Behavior, Evolution and Marine Biology department. He earned his PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2013, focusing on ecological responses to anthropogenic stressors. His research integrates field studies, experimental manipulations, and computational models to understand how ecosystems respond to global changes.

Muthukrishnan's investigations examine biological invasions in aquatic systems, including the Caribbean seagrass Halophila stipulacea and freshwater alga Nitellopsis obtusa in Midwestern lakes. His work on ecosystem resilience explores transitions between alternative stable states in coral reefs and grasslands under nutrient loading and climate pressures.
