Randy Naylor is a Professor of Applied Tech at Western Nevada College (WNC), specializing in welding education. He has taught at WNC since 1996 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. His career began through mentorship under former WNC Professor Jim Pawluk, and he continues this legacy by training students in welding skills critical for local and global industries.
Prof. Naylor’s focus is on ensuring students gain practical, industry-ready expertise. His program has produced graduates employed in unions (e.g., Iron Workers, Pipefitters), corporations like Tesla and Panasonic, and international roles (e.g., pipe welding in New Zealand). Notably, former students Ramirez and Anderson have returned as instructors at WNC.
He maintains active industry connections by welding outside academia, ensuring curricula align with real-world demands. Naylor emphasizes the high employability of welding graduates and the program’s role in sustaining families through stable careers.
