Randy Moulic (James Randal Moulic) is Professor and Associate Dean for Applied Learning & Cooperative Education at the University at Albany's College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering, with joint appointments in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science. He previously served as Acting Chair for both departments.
With 39 years at IBM prior to academia, he led worldwide research on wireless/mobile systems and cloud services. Technical contributions include development of Los Alamos National Lab's Roadrunner (world's first petaflop supercomputer) and leadership of the Deep Blue chess project against world champions Kasparov and Karpov.
Research interests span high-performance computing architectures, distributed systems, and AI game algorithms. As IEEE Life Fellow and ABET Program Evaluator, he bridges industry innovation with academic program development.
