Dr. Randy Borum is a Professor and Director of the School of Information (iSchool) at the University of South Florida (USF), where he also serves as Director of Intelligence and National Security Studies. He previously held a joint appointment as a Senior Behavioral Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) from 2017 to 2019. His affiliations include advising roles with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit-1, the U.S. Secret Service, and the United Nations as a Roster Expert in Terrorism. He has held leadership positions such as Past-President of the American Academy of Forensic Psychology and currently serves as Senior Editor for the Journal of Strategic Security and Military Cyber Affairs.
Dr. Borum’s research focuses on terrorism, violent extremism, and threat assessment, with expertise in forensic psychology and intelligence analysis. His work explores the psychological and sociocultural dynamics of radicalization, juvenile radicalization, and cyber intelligence. He emphasizes practical applications in counterterrorism, law enforcement protocols, and national security policy. Key areas include:
