Rana Young is a Part-Time Lecturer at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Tufts University, specializing in photography. She earned her MFA and BFA in Studio Art from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Portland State University, respectively, and was an Othmer Fellow during her MFA studies.
Her artistic practice employs photography to explore autobiographical narratives rooted in the Midwest landscape, confronting themes such as familial bonds, hereditary trauma, parental incarceration, childhood abandonment, mental illness, and family secrets. She integrates staged scenes, archival images, and documentary techniques to create complex visual elegies.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and featured in publications like CNN, Hyperallergic, VICE, Harper's Magazine, and The New York Times. She is currently based in Providence, RI, and will soon relocate to Eugene, OR.
