Rana El-Sabaawi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Victoria, researching food web dynamics and urbanization impacts on aquatic ecosystems. Her work integrates stoichiometry, evolution, and biogeochemistry across tropical and temperate watersheds.
Current projects investigate invasive species ecology, urbanization effects on nutrient recycling, and climate change impacts on tropical streams. She employs field surveys, isotopic tracing, and experimental approaches to quantify organism-environment interactions.
As Principal Investigator, she mentors graduate students in ecology and evolution. Her research spans international collaborations in Canada, Brazil, and Trinidad.
