Ramón Poch Torres

Ramón Poch Torres (1935–2020) was a Spanish economist and jurist, Professor of Financial Auditing at the University of Barcelona (1960–1995) and the Barcelona School of Business Administration (EAE). He held full membership in the Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences (1997) and the Royal Academy of Doctors of Catalonia (2010). His academic career spanned over four decades, specializing in auditing, internal control systems, and accounting law.

Education: PhD in Economics and Business Administration (1988, University of Barcelona), PhD in Law (1993, University of Barcelona), Certified Public Accountant (1963). Professional roles included leadership at the Office of Justification of Diffusion (OJD) and founding partner of García Cairó & Poch Auditores SL.

Research focused on internal control frameworks, risk management, and the legal foundations of accounting. Notable works include Manual de Control Interno (4 editions), Manual de Derecho Contable, and Gestión y control de riesgos empresariales. Awards include the Silver Medal from the University of Barcelona (2005) and the Carlos Cubillo Award for Accounting Research (1998).

Contributed over 500 articles to journals like Tesón and Cataluña Económica, addressing topics such as fiscal policy, corporate governance, and globalization. Served on audit committees of major institutions and held roles in sports governance (FC Barcelona Control Committee).
