Ramona Blanes is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director for the Master of Global Business and MBA-MSc Euro-Asian Programme at the University of Glasgow’s Adam Smith Business School. With over 20 years of senior experience in financial services and management consultancy across Asia, Europe, and beyond, she specializes in public value, public sector reforms, and reverse innovation. Her PhD research explored Intelligent Transportation Systems through a public value lens, and she holds an MBA specializing in Islamic Banking and Finance.
Education highlights include her PhD (public sector reforms) and MBA (Islamic Banking), with a focus on interdisciplinary research. Key research interests are clustered around public value creation, alternative finance, and marginalized community strategies. She has contributed to over 10 peer-reviewed publications and international conferences.
Her work spans sustainability projects like circular economy policies in Penang and net-zero initiatives in Scottish industries. Awards include Citigroup’s Global Quality Award (2002) and Citibank’s Global Relationship Awards (1997-1998). Current grants include AURA (£30k, 2024) and TNE Strategy Design (£10k, 2023).
Teaching focuses on Fintech, strategic change, and internationalization strategies. Supervision areas include SME innovation, crypto-asset management, and pandemic-era business adaptation. She actively collaborates with institutions in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan.
