معرفی
Ramon Alibes Arques is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), specializing in the design and synthesis of functional materials for biomedical applications. He leads the Cathecol-based nanostructured functional materials (CATNANOFUN) research group, focusing on therapeutic agents for degenerative diseases and antimicrobial compounds. His career includes roles such as Profesor Ayudante de Facultad at UAB from 1988, postdoctoral research at the University of Alberta (1994-1996), and multiple research grants.
- Education: PhD in Chemistry (UAB, 1993); MSc in Chemistry (UAB, 1988)
Research interests span medicinal chemistry, nanotechnology, and drug design, with emphasis on amyloidosis therapies, antiviral agents, and cancer treatments. Key projects include development of transthyretin aggregation inhibitors and novel therapeutic nanoparticles. Over 90 peer-reviewed publications and 64 supervised works highlight his impactful contributions.
Recent work focuses on multifunctional polyethylene glycol nanoparticles for drug delivery and high-affinity inhibitors for transthyretin amyloidosis. Collaborations include European and Spanish-funded initiatives targeting degenerative diseases and antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
