معرفی
Dr. Ramin Boroujerdi is a Lecturer in Toxicology and Program Leader for the Science Foundation in the Department of Life & Environmental Sciences at Bournemouth University, Faculty of Science and Technology. His work bridges analytical chemistry, nanotechnology, and public health through innovative sensor development.
Education:
- PhD in Chemistry, Bournemouth University (2023)
- MSc in Analytical Chemistry, University of Birjand (2015)
- BSc (Hons) in Applied Chemistry, Urmia University (2013)
- FHEA in Higher Education, Advance HE (2023)
Dr. Boroujerdi's research centers on the development of portable, point-of-care diagnostic devices using advanced nanomaterials and spectroscopic techniques. His work emphasizes analytical toxicology, sensor innovation, and environmental and healthcare monitoring. He specializes in Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS), fluorescence spectroscopy, and electrochemical methods for detecting drugs, toxins, and contaminants in biological and environmental samples.
His recent publications reveal a strong trend toward graphene-based sensors, selective detection of psychoactive drugs and antidepressants, and non-invasive monitoring using dried blood and saliva. The integration of nanomaterials with machine learning-optimized electrochemical platforms highlights his focus on real-world, deployable solutions for forensic, medical, and environmental applications.
Scientific Awards:
- Six-Times "You're Brilliant" Award Winner for Excellence in Toxicology Education (Students' Union at Bournemouth University, 2024)
- Teaching Innovation Award (Bournemouth University (FLIE), 2022)
Dr. Boroujerdi has secured multiple competitive grants from the Home Office, HEIF, and industry partners like SureScreen Diagnostics and Muc-Off UK, supporting research in synthetic opioid profiling, skin cancer detection, and printable graphene sensors. He supervises PhD students, including Victoria Louise Claydon, and contributes extensively to teaching in toxicology and forensic science. His collaborative work spans academia and industry, focusing on food safety, water contamination, and forensic toxicology.
He is actively involved in public engagement, delivering workshops and invited research presentations in the UK and India, and is a member of the Iranian Chemical Society and the Society of Chemical Industry.
