Ramesh Padmanabhan is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. He holds degrees including a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology (UT Dallas, 2018), an MS from UT Dallas (2013), and prior degrees from Wichita State University and institutions in India.
His research focuses on molecular mechanisms such as mitochondrial calcium signaling in atherosclerosis, diabetic kidney disease pathogenesis, and T7 RNA polymerase initiation dynamics. He has explored miRNA dysregulation in uterine carcinogenesis using hamster models and contributed to understanding promoter sequence effects on transcription initiation. His work bridges laboratory experimentation with translational insights in biotechnology and medical research.
Key projects include investigations into arginase II's role in diabetic kidney disease (2018-2019), promoter length effects on T7 RNA polymerase (2011-2018), and miRNA patterns in endometrial cancer (2007-2009). He collaborates with labs like Dennis Miller’s (UT Dallas) and William Hendry’s (Wichita State). His research spans biochemistry, genomics, and cellular pathology, with applications to human disease modeling.
Padmanabhan has held postgraduate roles including a Research Fellowship at Reliance Life Sciences (India, 2005-2006) and contributed to projects on therapeutic proteins and gene therapy. His educational background includes diverse training in biotechnology, industrial bioprocessing, and molecular biology across India and the US.
