Raman Singh is a Professor in the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department at Monash University, specializing in corrosion science and advanced materials. His research focuses on nanoscale material structures, graphene-based coatings, and environmental degradation mechanisms in industrial systems. He holds leadership roles in over 436 publications and has led projects like the structural integrity analysis of aircraft composites and corrosion mitigation strategies for aerospace materials.
- Affiliations: Monash University (since 2004), Faculty of Engineering
- Key Collaborations: Queensland Alumina Ltd, BHP Billiton, Orica Limited
Research interests include stress corrosion cracking, microbiologically influenced corrosion, and corrosion-resistant coating development for metals used in extreme environments. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy (SDG7) and industry innovation (SDG9). He teaches courses like Materials Selection for Engineering Design and Aerospace Materials.
Recent projects (2018–2023) address structural integrity of aircraft components under multiaxial loading and corrosion characterization of chiller fan materials. His funded research explores graphene coatings for fuel cells, nanocrystalline Fe-Cr-Al alloys for oxidation resistance, and magnesium alloy biodegradation in biofluids.
