Ramakrishnan Vasudeva is a Commonwealth Rutherford Fellow at the School of Biological Sciences, University of East Anglia. He is actively engaged in research on evolutionary biology, focusing on thermal adaptation, sperm biology, and environmental stress effects on reproduction. He contributes to the scientific community through publications, datasets, and collaborations.
- PhD in Evolutionary Biology, University of Lincoln (2010)
- MSc in Nanotechnology, Sheffield Hallam University (2006)
- BSc in Genetic Engineering and Cloning Strategies in Mice, Garden City College, India (2004)
His research interests lie at the intersection of evolutionary ecology and reproductive physiology. He investigates how environmental stressors like heatwaves affect sperm form and function, phenotypic plasticity, and transgenerational responses in model insects such as Tribolium castaneum. His work combines experimental evolution, microscopy, and morphometric analysis to understand adaptation mechanisms. He is particularly interested in thermal biology, mating behaviour, and inbreeding depression.
The recent articles highlight a consistent trend in studying the impact of rising temperatures on animal fertility. His research employs systematic reviews and experimental models to assess high-temperature limits to reproduction, with a focus on male reproductive performance under heat stress. These studies contribute to understanding biodiversity responses to climate change.

Dr. Vasudeva has contributed to major collaborative research projects and supervised or co-supervised research outputs. He has secured competitive fellowships and contributed datasets to public repositories, supporting open science. His work involves interdisciplinary grants related to climate change, evolution, and reproductive biology. He is a member of the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour and the European Society for the Study of Evolution.
He is involved in maintaining experimentally evolved lines of Tribolium and utilizes advanced techniques including image analysis, micro-dissections, and molecular methods. His research group engages in collaborative networks across Europe and internationally, focusing on evolutionary responses to environmental stress.
