معرفی
Dr. Ram Mishra, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neuroscience and co-director of the School of Biomedical Engineering at McMaster University. His research program focuses on understanding biochemical and molecular mechanisms of neuropsychiatric illnesses and developing novel treatments.
His research interests include drug development, behavioral pharmacology, dopamine receptor modulation, neurotrophic factors, and intranasal drug delivery systems. Dr. Mishra's work bridges neuroscience, psychiatry, and biomedical engineering, with a particular emphasis on translational research that moves from bench to bedside.
His recent publications (2021-2025) demonstrate a strong focus on intranasal drug delivery systems for psychiatric medications, neurotrophic factors in mood disorders, and the molecular mechanisms underlying mental illnesses. His work spans pharmaceutical science, neuroscience, and biomedical engineering, with particular emphasis on dopamine receptor modulation and the role of endoplasmic reticulum stress in neuropsychiatric conditions.
Dr. Mishra has received several prestigious awards including the Meller-Einstein Award (New York) for outstanding biomedical research, the United Nations Visiting Scientist Award, and multiple awards from McMaster University for supervision and mentorship.
His research program is continuously funded and has led to spin-off biotech companies (CRP 40 Inc.), multiple collaborations with major pharmaceutical companies, and a drug pipeline in the late pre-clinical stage (Delivra, Sunovion Pharmaceuticals). He has published over 250 papers and has co-supervised numerous highly qualified personnel.
Dr. Mishra leads a research team focused on drug development for neuropsychiatric disorders, with particular expertise in dopamine receptor modulation and intranasal drug delivery systems.
