Ralph Tafon is an Associate Professor and Programme Coordinator at the School of Natural Sciences, Technology and Environmental Studies, Södertörns Högskola. He holds a background in Human Geography from Stockholm University and Environmental Studies from Södertörns Högskola. His research focuses on sustainability transformations, climate justice, ocean justice, and power dynamics in decision-making processes, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Baltic Sea Region. Ralph’s doctoral work explores Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) integration through the BaltSpace Project, emphasizing stakeholder power relations and cross-border collaboration.
His research interests span political ecology, forest conflicts, land grabbing, and the intersection of activism with environmental policy. Notable works include studies on Cameroon’s conservation and development challenges, Foucaultian critiques of marine governance, and equity-focused analyses of MSP in Poland and Latvia. Ralph actively engages in transdisciplinary research addressing marine conflicts and energy transition justice.
Despite his prolific output, he is currently not participating in any funded projects. His work consistently bridges theory and practice, advocating for justice-centered approaches in environmental policymaking.
